My Slowest and Most Beautiful Train Travel
February 3rd, 2009 Posted in Train Travel RailwayPeople love fast train travel but not when you are in Glacier Express. You will really love it at the lowest speed to savor the scenic beauty right in front of you, so near yet so far. So, better not forget your cameras as you take the most momentous train ride in your life.
The Glacier Express connects the two main mountain resorts of Zermatt and St. Moritz in the Swiss Alps. It is not express in its real term. But is indeed a train ride meant to enjoy the sceneries and not the speed of the train.
The 8 hour train travel ride is worth the long wait for you got to go through 91 tunnels and 291 bridges. I could not imagine how many terabytes of digital cam memory the pictures will occupy. My encounter with the Swiss Alps was the most fabulous of all. Everything from the mountains and far away castle was just very awesome. My children could not help but say ‘beautiful’! No wonder why my eighteen year old son brought videos and cameras. The Swiss Alps also referred to as Central Alps is part of the mountain range Alps that is located in Switzerland.
You would not miss the Albula Line right after departure of St. Mortiz station at Graubunde. The train goes by Bever and Samedan on the elevated Engadin plateau. It persists through Val Bever and enters the albula Tunnel at 5,950 ft below the Albula Pass.
And my favorite is the Oberapl section which the train follows from the Rhine and slowly goes up gradually go up toward Disentis/Muster and Ilanz. Though the rest of my family just love Furka Line; though each ahs its own favorite place; everybody just loves our first slowest and most beautiful train travel. Make it yours too.
